Summer of 2023.
Cue the "schools out for summer" theme song. Cue the cloudless, cornflower blue sky that seems to go on forever and the warm air that hits you when you leave the air-conditioned inside. Cue the smells of grilling burgers and dew resting on the flowers of freshly bloomed flowers.
It is officially the summer. June is officially here and can I say that it could not have come soon enough. We were all tired of the heavy dark skies and inches on inches of snow. Of the chilly wind blowing the still dead tree branches and having to wear layers even as we got into the early days of April. And finally there, at the end of the iced over tunnel, was the sun. The green grass. The change of mood.
And as the days on the calendar counted down to June, the weekends on the calendar throughout the whole summer begin to fill up. First written in pencil then traced over in pen as more details were solidified. Weekends spent with family and weekends spent with friends. Lake weekends, mountain weekends. Adventures across the state and even here in town. So many that it makes your head spin and you can imagine blinking your eyes and the finding yourself at the end of August. Because that is going to be how this summer is going to feel like. Filled with so much friendship, and sunshine, and joy.
What a summer it is going to be!
